The lying Dr. Gillick |
Gillick, hours before the Wisconsin recall election, made up a story about her college roommate, and said that the roommate had been impregnated by Wisconsin governor Scott Walker while he was a college student at Marquette University back in 1988.
Dr. Gillick spun a tale of how Walker got her roommate "Ruth" pregnant, then disavowed paternity and abandoned Ruth to raise the child herself. "I cannot listen to his lies anymore," Gillick told something called the "Wisconsin Citizens Media Co-Op" in a story you can read here. "I cannot dream of how anyone would support such an evil man. Once a man shows that he has no soul, there is nothing more.”
Except that the whole story is a bald-faced lie.
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel tracked down Gillick's roommate, who said that, yes, she did become pregnant her freshman year, but denied that Walker was the father. Another liberal wacko claimed the story had to be true, because the Wisconsin court records system listed a paternity case involving a "Scott Walker." Except that the court case involved a Scott Alan Walker, and the governor's name is Scott Kevin Walker, and the two men have different birthdates.
Sadly, the taxpayers of Minnesota play a role in this story, since Gillick's salary is paid by the University of Minnesota, where she is an assistant professor teaching physical therapy. According to the U of M's web site, she is enrolled in graduate school there as well.
In case you'd like to let Dr. Gillick know what you think of her scummy attempt at character assassination, her email is gillick@umn.edu, and her office phone # is 612-626-3121.
UPDATE: Even the Daily Kos web site - where they are usually proud to spread any vicious lie they can about conservatives - has backed away from Dr. Gillick's story. They had a link to it but have scrubbed the story from their web site.
I don't know who you are but how do Dr. Gillick's employer and the taxpayers of Minnesota play a role in this story? It seems to me that she is a talented and very bright woman who has accomplished much in her career. Who are you to publish her work address and telephone number? It appears to me that you have exceeded the bounds of propriety.
ReplyDeleteA liar is a liar no matter what thir other accomplishments. She should be fired.
DeleteBright Woman??? More like a spoiled rotten brat and Scott Walker should sue her butt!
DeleteWell gee, there anonymous: If Dr. Gillick does not want anyone to contact her, she should not have her e-mail address and phone number on the U of Minnesota website. Blatantly lying and attempting to destroy another human being are apparently your idea of the characteristics of a talented and very bright woman, whereas, listing publicly available information exceeds the bound of propriety. Do you have a clue as to how moronic this makes you sound. Don't confuse me with the above anonymous, as no other reply options fit.
DeleteI think making up wild-eyed lies about public figures in an attempt to influence an election exceeds the "bounds of propriety."
ReplyDeleteBeing on the public payroll opens her actions up to public scrutiny.
Also, her email and phone number are already public information, published on the U of M's on-line directory here: http://www.umn.edu/lookup?SET_INSTITUTION=&UID=gillick.
ReplyDeleteI did NOT, as you allege, publish her address.
She is Dr. Gillick. You keep referring to her as Ms. Gillick.
DeleteI appreciate the info. Updates made. Thanks!
DeleteDoctor is an honorific for PhD's and ordinarily is not used outside of a professional situation. Unless Ms. Gillick was speaking in an official capacity, which I doubt, then Ms. Gillick is the proper title. For social, non-professional use, the term Doctor is usually reserved for M.D.'s, DDS', and DVM's, ie people that are medical doctors of some sort.

Tim, why hasn't Walker4Governor slapped her with a libel suit or even commented? Why are Media Trackers and Charlie Sykes ignoring the story? This is perfect GOTV material for Walker. Why hasn't the father (or his family) come forward to denounce Prof. Gillick's allegations?
ReplyDeleteCould it be that Walker realizes that a public figure has to prove actual malice in order to win a libel suit. Also, when your opponent is lying, it is often best to let them keep digging the hole of their lies. Personally, Ms. Gillick is beneath contempt and response. Perhaps the father and family value their privacy, and want let this issue die down. What a friend the roommate had in Ms. Gillick; a friend who dragged the roommate's most personal business into the public eye for partisan political advantage.

I've been following this "story" since I saw it on DailyKos, where there were several diaries about it. I would encourage WCMC to put this story on FOX. Perhaps Dr. Glick would like to make an appearance and lay out her allegations. So far, this sounds like an Elizabeth Warren tale, something Gillick made up to support a narrative in her own head to make her look like a hero and Walker to be a bad guy.
ReplyDeleteRemarkable. How did the Milwaukee Journel-Sentinel allow an actual reporter to sneak onto their payroll of press release stenographers?
ReplyDeleteAbe Frommen,
Sausage King of Chicago
My guess is that an accomplished professor without an axe to grind did it because she got a little tired of hearing about someone's integrity--- you know, the guy who's the target of the John Doe. And it doesn't surprise me that the mother denied it because she probably never told the child who the real father was, although she was quick to hang it on another roommate.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that some of her family members are trial lawyers that signed the recall petition might be seen as a teeny weeny axe to grind. By your lights, in any dispute, we should accept the word of friend of the "victim", but not the word of the victim. You are working awfully hard to get this lying woman out of the hole she dug for herself.
DeleteAs for you Abe Frommen, you are a phony. All right thinking Americans know that Ferris Bueller is the true sausage king of Chicago.

I don't blame the roommate of Bernadette Gillick for denying that Scott Walker is the father of her 23 year old child. She would be hounded by media and her child would surely suffer the same attention. But, it is just too much of a coincidence that Gillick's roommate became pregnant in her freshman year at Marquette University, and admitted to the reporter from MJS that she had gotten pregnant that year, but Walker was not the father. Believe me, a female college coed does not forget who her roommate is impregnated by. It has been many years since I was in college, but I remember every sexual escapade that any of my roommates ever had, including the names of the guys they were with. Marquette is not that large of a school so I doubt that there was another Scott Walker there at the same time as Gov. Scott Walker. I personally would remember any person, in great detail, who would have told me to keep my mouth shut about the situation. The report on Wisconsin Circuit Court does not coincide with the time frame or age of Walker and the young woman. Bernadette Gillick's has a lot to lose if she made up this story. She is a well educated and successful woman. Why would she take a chance at trashing her reputation. I believe that Gillick's roommate did get pregnant by Scott Kevin Walker and that he did deny paternity because he had big plans for himself. My guess is that this young woman was paid off and signed a contract to never tell anyone what happened. It's too bad that this woman couldn't sit down with her child and explain the situation to him/her. She would be doing the world a great service by exposing the true evil lurking in Scott Walker. He can't hide behind his holiness and Eagle Scout for very long! Sometimes it takes a while for a payback, but it does come!

DeleteRight. You realize that there's not a little man in the refrigerator who turns the light on, correct? Please, for the sake of all who are sane and sporting a > 70 IQ, confirm that you do not operate machinery, have responsibility for children or the elderly, and otherwise are not employed in a job with duties more challenging than shelling peanuts. Dolt.
...You would guess....: Well, that makes me feel better; knowing that you have guessed the truth. It is amazing reading the web that you have spun from absolutely nothing. So, without knowing any of the facts about your reasoning, I would guess that you are a leftist, partisan hack, who has no trouble calling a person evil over political differences. I believe you. So who did your college roommate get pregnant by. If she did not and/or you don't know, then apparently you do not know from personal experience. You're just guessing.

Coincidence? Certainly has the appearance of impropriety. I wonder if the FBI or Eric Holder will investigate. http://blog.lib.umn.edu/ahcweb/health-talk/2012/05/u-of-m-researcher-awarded-grants-for-neurolgical-study.html
